Emmy 2013: “Game of thrones” e “American Horror Story” lideram indicações

Foram revelados quinta-feira, dia 18, os indicados ao Emmy – o principal prêmio para as produções de TV nos Estados Unidos.

Game of Thrones e American Horror Story lideram as indicações a  65ª edição dos prêmios Emmy, concorrendo em 16 e 17 categorias.,“Breaking Bad” foi a terceira colocada geral, com 13 indicações. Mas as indicações que têm causado maior repercussão são as 9 de “House of Cards”, produção do site de streaming Netflix.

Pela primeira vez, uma série criada para a internet disputará a categoria mais nobre do Emmy, Melhor Série de Drama, além de estar indicada nas categorias de atuação, com nomeações para Kevin Spacey e Robin Wright. O Emmy não apenas se moderniza, como amplia seu foco, num movimento equivalente ao que aconteceu quando uma produção da TV paga, “A Família Soprano” (The Sopranos), venceu pela primeira vez o prêmio de Melhor Série de Drama, em 2004. Depois disso, veio a supremacia da TV paga entre as produções dramáticas. Uma mudança de paradigma. Reparem: neste ano, não há série de TV aberta concorrendo em Drama.

Morena Baccarin concorre ao prêmio de Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante em Série de Drama, por sua participação em “Homeland”. Ela é apenas a segunda brasileira a disputar um Emmy, após Sônia Braga ser indicada como Melhor Atriz de Telefilme por “Chamas” (The Burning Season).

A lista de telefilmes, por sua vez, inclui as esperadas produções da HBO “Behind the Candelabra”, com Michael Douglas e Matt Damon, e “Phil Spector”, estrelada por Al Pacino. Mas, curiosamente, neste ano os filmes de TV são minoria em sua categoria, que também premia minisséries.

Os dois representantes da HBO disputarão com as populares minisséries “American Horror Story: Asylum” e “Bible”, além de “Political Animals” e a excepcional “Top of the Lake”, dirigida pela cineasta Jane Campion.

É, por sinal, impressionante a presença de cineastas celebrados pelo Oscar na disputa dos prêmios de Direção de TV, como David Fincher (“A Rede Social”), Steven Soderbergh (“Traffic”), David Mamet (“O Veredito”) e Jane Campion (“O Piano”). Após o êxodo de atores veteranos, é a vez dos cineastas migrarem para a TV. Uma tendência que responde pela qualidade cada vez maior das séries atuais.

Diante de tantas novidades dramáticas, torna-se paradoxalmente clara a dificuldade da Academia em encontrar novos motivos para rir. As categorias cômicas não conseguiram se renovar. São os nomes de sempre, com “Modern Family”, “30 Rock” e “The Big Bang Theory” puxando a fila. Mesmo com as portas abertas para a Netflix, esqueceram de mencionar “Arrested Development”.

A entrega dos prêmios acontece no dia 22 de setembro, nos EUA. No Brasil, a transmissão acontecerá pelo canal pago Warner.
